Anyinginyi Congress Aboriginal Corporation is a unique
Aboriginal community controlled organisation in the
township of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
We were the third Aboriginal Medical Services incorporated
on the 24th August 1984. Congress began delivering its
primary health care service in 1985. ACAC's first Clinic
was situated in the Pink Palace building at Ngalpa Ngalpa.
"Anyinginyi" is a Warumungu word meaning "belonging
to us". It is one of 15 Aboriginal languages spoken
in Tennant Creek.
ACAC Board of Directors
ACAC is governed by Aboriginal Board of Directors.
We have a Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary,
Treasurer and Board of Directors. Boards of Directors
are elected at the Annual General Meeting held yearly.
Service Delivery
We are unique in that we are not only an Aboriginal
Medical Service; we also deliver other programs and
services. We visit twelve Aboriginal communities/outstations
with a 100km radius of Tennant Creek, NT. Our services
are mainly intended for the local Aboriginal people,
Aboriginal people from the Barkly visit us. Our service
welcomes non-Aboriginal people.
We are unique in that we are a "Culturally Appropriate"
place for Aboriginal people seeking medical advice or
support. One of the Anyinginyi Goals is "To make
sure our local and Aboriginal culture is respected and
supported". New staff, be they non-Aboriginal or
Aboriginal (from other lands), they must attend a "Cross
